Project Overview

RH Wood Floors was called in to restore a stunning original parquet floor in Dublin that had lost much of its character through years of everyday use.

The timber itself was still in excellent condition, but the surface had become tired, scratched and dull. Rather than replacing the flooring, our team used our specialist parquet floor sanding and refinishing process to reveal the beauty that was already there.

The transformation was remarkable.

The Challenge

Parquet flooring requires a different level of care and precision compared with standard timber floors.

The individual blocks, intricate pattern and natural variation in the timber all need to be considered during sanding. Removing too much material or using the wrong approach can permanently damage the character of an original parquet floor.

Our experience with parquet restoration in Dublin allowed us to approach the floor carefully while still achieving the deep restoration required.

Our Approach

We carried out a detailed multi-stage sanding process using professional floor sanding equipment.

The process removed:

* Years of surface wear
* Scratches and marks
* Old and tired finishes
* Surface imperfections
* Areas of discolouration

Once the floor had been carefully prepared, we applied a high-quality protective finish designed to enhance the natural timber while providing long-term protection.

The Result

What had become a tired-looking floor was transformed into a beautiful, character-filled parquet floor once again.

The natural grain and pattern were brought back to life, creating a warm and elegant feature throughout the home.

Most importantly, the original parquet was preserved rather than unnecessarily replaced.

Why Parquet Floor Restoration Matters

Original parquet flooring can be one of the most distinctive features of a Dublin home.

With the right sanding and finishing process, an old parquet floor can often be transformed dramatically, extending its lifespan for many years while preserving its original character.

At RH Wood Floors, we believe that restoration should always be considered before replacement.
